Gary Paul Durant was born in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan, spending his young years on his maternal grandmothers' farm along the St. Lawrence River. His elementary and high school years were spent in Lexington/Circle Pines Minnesota where he ultimately made his home. Gary served in the Army, worked as a heavy machine operator, loved hunting with his sons, cars, traveling, Arizona (in the winter) and being a grandfather. His best times and retirement were joyfully spent with his grandsons.

Gary is survived by his son, John Durant and daughter-in-law, John's wife Faith Cole-Durant; step-daughter Tanya Stoll (nee Charles), and her husband Dustin; grandsons, Ryan and Matthew Stoll; and long time companion, Diane Charles. He is also survived by siblings Debra Thomson Steele, Donald Thomson, Laurie Thomson Parsons, and Jeanie Swanson Glaspell.

Preceded by his son Corey Lee Durant; brother, Jim Thomson; and mother, Mildred (Brock) Thomson.

The family would like to thank the care teams on 3 West at Mercy Hospital and Allina Hospice for the exceptional care Gary received.
