Marie Lee Peters
March 8, 1929 - November 7, 2020
Marie Peters (Lee), loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died peacefully at home on November 7, 2020 in Roseville, Minnesota, at the age of 91.
Marie is survived by her children, Michelle (Rick) Zarmbinski, Lynn Beer, Cindy (Al) Jehle, and Harry Peters; grandchildren, Lindsey (Abe) Prescher, Breanna (Paul Shrewsbury) Zarmbinski, Alyssa (Marlon Amaro) Jehle, Christina (David) Young, and Alexandra (Seth) Burke; great-grandchildren, Elsie, Nels, and Carter Prescher and Ezra and Jude Young; and her sister, Zola Smith.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Harry Peters; and her husband of 18 years, Bill Wondra, parents, and siblings, Anne Antletz, Al Lee, Howard Lee, Ralph Lee, Peter Lee and Barbara Thelen.
Marie was born on March 8, 1929 in Portland, Oregon to Barbara Carlton and Alf Lee. Her family moved to Minnesota when she was a child. She married Harry Peters in 1951, and they moved to St. Paul where she graduated from Hamline University with a degree in psychology.
They had four children and raised their family in Roseville. Harry died in 1992 and Marie married Bill Wondra in 2002. Marie and Bill enjoyed spending winters in Port Aransas, Texas.
Marie was a dedicated preschool teacher for underprivileged children for many years. She was a vibrant, optimistic, and resilient woman who loved her family and friends. She was a lifelong reader, loved gardening, horse racing, weekends at the cabin and enjoyed being active golfing, bowling, and walking.
Marie particularly enjoyed having fun with the younger generations of her family.
Marie's daughters especially wish to thank their brother Harry for the kind and loving care he gave their mother during the last years of her life. The family also wishes to thank caregiver Marnie Field from Home Instead Senior Care who helped care for Marie during the last couple years of her life and the staff of Allina Health Hospice who helped care for her during the last weeks of her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Allina Health Hospice Foundation.
The family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
