Michael R. Gallagher

December 4, 1930 - June 1, 2017

Beloved by many, Michael R. Gallagher died on June 1st, 2017, after a short illness. He was born on December 4, 1930, in Waseca, the youngest child of Justice Frank Gallagher and Belle Gallagher. Michael served in the Air Force for 4 years during the cold war era. After military service, he graduated from William Mitchell College of Law. He specialized in local government law with the Attorney General for his entire career. He loved classical music, taking long walks, donuts, outings with friends and family, the State Fair, travel, and "solving the world's problems" over a meal and a cup of coffee. Our Uncle Mickey was a man of deep faith, boundless curiosity, understated humor, and extraordinary kindness.

In death, he is reunited with his parents, sisters, Kay Gaddis and Patricia Gallagher: and brother Tommy Gallagher. He is survived by his brother, Judge Daniel Gallagher (Grace); nephews, Mark Gaddis (Pook Grathwol), Bill Gaddis (Gloria), and Michael Gallagher, nieces Kathy Wilson (Clark), Patrice Knudson, Mary Gallagher (Jon Eversoll), and Ann Gallagher; many great nieces and nephews, Lynne Gonsor, Anne Briese, David Wilson, Ben Gaddis, Alex Gaddis, Joey Knudson, Glen Knudson, Chris Knudson, Billy Knudson, Soren Eversoll, Solvej Eversoll; and dear friend, Cynthia Bertheau.

Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Wednesday, June 7 at CHURCH OF THE MATERNITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN, 1414 N. Dale St., St. Paul. Visitation AT THE CHURCH from 9-10 AM Wednesday. A light lunch will be served in the gathering space after the service.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice , the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, or the Church of the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin.

Uncle Mickey touched all of our lives. His generosity and kindness were given in equal measure to friends and family. We are the better for having known and been loved by him.
