Bernice P. Sassen (Peterson)

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother.​Age 92, of Roseville.​Passed away October 3, 2022 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, Crosby, MN. ​Bernice was born on the family farm in Freedom, MN to August and Christine Peterson. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School. She met George M. Sassen in 1949. They moved to Pillager, where George was a teacher. After George was hired by the MN Highway Department, they moved to Brainerd, Faribault, and Roseville, MN, where she lived for 66 years. She was a longtime member of Roseville Lutheran Church.​Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, George; brothers, Roland Peterson and Vincent Peterson; sister, Beatrice Peterson; grandson, Phillip Sassen; and son-in-law, Brad Kirschbaum.​Survived by her children, Larry (Cindy) Sassen, Gary Sassen, Linda (Bill) Forsythe, and Chris (Rick) Johnson; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.​A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 10 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home- Roseville, 2130 N. Dale Street (at County Road B). Visitation from 10-11 AM Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Freedom Lutheran Cemetery.​In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to American Heart Association.
