Betty Lou Droel

Betty Lou Weiland was born March 1, 1930 in Minneapolis to Henry and Rosalyn (Rowland) Weiland. She passed away December 29, 2025 at her home in Mounds View.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; sister and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Vernon Swanson) and (Ken Kitto); brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold (Anita) Weiland and Richard (Verlaine) Weiland; nephew, Clayton Swanson; Roy’s son, Darrel Droel; step-sister, Joy Pickett.

Survived by nieces and nephews, Judy Burnam, Cathy Swanson, Kevin, Brenda, and Bryan Weiland, Sheralyn (Philip) Shadle and Steve (Marci) Weiland; Roy’s family – son, Rodger (Claudia) Droel; daughter-in-law, Johanna Droel; other family and friends.

Funeral service 1:30 PM Tuesday, January 6 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home-Lino Lakes, 7050 Lakes Drive. Visitation from 12:30 – 1:30 PM. Interment Stacy Cemetery, Stacy.

Betty attended Loring Grade School and Patrick Henry High School in Mpls. She professed to serve the Lord at the age of 8 and was baptized at the age of 17.

She worked for her dad, Henry, at HH Weiland Sheet Metal Shop in Mpls. until he died in 1951. She then worked at Dahlen Heating and Air Conditioning until January of 1959. It was then she went into the ministry where she labored in both Minnesota and Washington state. Due to health issues, she came back to MN to work for a chiropractor, Dr. Thomas Miller, for 13 years.

Betty married a family friend, Roy Droel, on February 18, 1993. She and Roy resided in the Mounds View home Roy built. Roy passed away on December 30, 2015.

Her family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the dear friends, neighbors, mailmen, garbage haulers, Amazon delivery drivers, Allina Senior Care, St. Croix Hospice, and Hallmark Homecare, who made it possible for her to remain in her home up until her passing on December 29, 2025 at the age of 95.
