Listen to Obituary

Betty Lou, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 97. Betty Lou spent 50 wonderful years living in Circle Pines, Minnesota, where she built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Later in life, she moved to Centerville, Minnesota, where she continued to share her kindness and joyful spirit with everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Guggisberg; her parents, Gladys and Richard Durant; her siblings, Connie Hansen, Russel Durant, Gloria Lindberg, and Marlys Richardson; great-great grandson, Lucas Guggisberg.

Betty Lou is lovingly remembered by her family, including Martin her son (Dessa); grandchildren, Heather Guggisberg and Jana Guggisberg (Kelly Cook) and her cherished great-grandchildren, Victoria Smart (Kory), Daniesha Wilson (Dalek Roberts), Chantel Wilson, and Aryianna Wilson; great-great grandchildren, Ezra Smart, Elijah Smart (and Chris Glasspoole Tori’s father and Ezra and Elijah’s grandfather), Jericho Roberts, Zaylee Roberts (and Lionel Wilson father to Daniesha, Chantel, Aryanna and grandfather to Jericho and Zaylee); sisters, Lola Money and Darlene Steinle (Don); and her brother, Bruce Durant (Jodi); along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Betty had a gift for making people feel at home. She loved knitting and crocheting, creating countless handmade treasures for those she loved. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, lively games of bingo, and was rarely without her special lucky stone — a small symbol of the luck and love that seemed to follow her everywhere. Her family and friends will remember her as a strong matriarch, a second mom to many, and someone whose door — and heart — were always open.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Eagle Brook Church – Maplewood, 2220 Edgerton St, Maplewood, MN with a gathering from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Luncheon to follow at Keller Golf Course Clubhouse, 2168 Maplewood Dr., Maplewood.
