Bonita A. Simmons (née Keran)

Our beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the age of 92.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; and siblings, Jean Carlson, Mary Lou Rotter, and Bill Keran.

She is survived by her children, Sue (Gar) Johnson, Bill (Maureen), Mike (Carrie), Sandy (Mark) Rufener, and Patti (Jim) Stairs; 12 beloved grandchildren; and 18 cherished great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Bonita was born and raised in St. Paul, attended St. Vincent’s grade school and was a proud graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy class of 1952. Mom was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mass of the Christian Burial at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1938 Stanford Ave., St. Paul at 10:30AM on Wednesday, September 16 with visitation one hour prior to service at the church.

Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Thursday, September 17. Meet at Assembly Area #6 at 12:15PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale, MN and/or Beyond Hospice.
