Age 29, unexpectedly passed away on February 8, 2026.
Brendan is survived by his parents, Georgie (Damien) Tabolich Grist and Michael (Heather) Benson; John Cook; his siblings, Bryce and Dyllan Benson; his grandparents, Jack and Pat Tabolich, Chuck and Gwen Benson; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Brendan loved adventure. Whether it was traveling with friends and family, hiking, rock climbing, or just trying a new recipe to whip up and share, he put his whole heart into it. A good book was never out of reach. He thrived on learning new things and sharing his knowledge with others.
The love Brendan had for his family was immeasurable. He was a proud big brother and made sure he was present at all their major events. No matter the distance or how busy life became, he showed up — cheering the loudest, offering steady encouragement, and celebrating every milestone as if it were his own.
He had a way of making the people around him feel valued and understood. He listened intently, offered thoughtful advice, and wasn’t afraid to challenge ideas in a way that sparked growth and deeper connection. His curiosity about the world was matched only by his care for the people in it.
Brendan embraced life with enthusiasm, humor, and courage. He leaves behind countless stories of spontaneous trips, shared meals, long conversations, and laughter that filled every room. His spirit of adventure and his unwavering love for his family will continue to inspire all who knew him.
The world feels quieter without him in motion. But the way he lived — curious, brave, loyal, and all-in — is something that will keep moving through everyone who loved him.
