Carol Thompson, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Thompson; mother, Dorothy (Elmer) Heppner; and brothers, Donald Thompson and Thomas Thompson.
She is survived by her sisters, Cathe Wilson, Pam Thompson, and Paddy Lyons; and her brother, Gary Thompson.
Carol’s beloved daughter, Kate (Bob) Shanahan, and her cherished grandchildren, William (11) and Charlotte (9), brought her immeasurable joy, affectionately calling her "Nana."
Carol was a vibrant and spirited woman, known for her exuberance, practicality, and impeccable sense of fashion and decorum. She made others feel abundantly cared for and deeply loved.
Crowned the 1970 West Wind Princess, Carol remained actively involved in the Past Princess Association (PPA), a community close to her heart. She held fond memories of her time as Princess alongside Prince Lowry Smith and continued to contribute to the organization throughout her life.
While most of her adult life was spent in Minnesota, Carol’s early adult years were spent living in San Francisco. While there, she built lifelong friendships and relished in all the beauty and culture the city had to offer. She also spent many memorable years in Florida enjoying the sunshine and the sand.
Her thoughtfulness, warmth, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation to honor Carol's life will be held from 2-5 PM Wednesday, June 25 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B.
