Charlotte Marie Lane

February 8, 1939 — November 24, 2021

(Buchanan, Anderson)

Age 82 of Maplewood; passed away on November 24, 2021.

Preceded in death by first husband, Charles Anderson; daughter, Janet Simons; and granddaughter, Emily Roland.

Survived by husband, William; daughters, Patti Amoh and Susie (Steven) Roland; grandchildren, Charles (Ruth), Nina (Jared), Danielle (Luke), Kevin and Becky; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Linden, Thielen, Riley and Jade; son-in-law, Robert Simons; and stepchildren, Kathleen Lane and Floyd Lane.

Charlotte was known for her smile. She loved to laugh and could tell a great story that would make others laugh with her.

She had a heart devoted to Jesus. Her spiritual life was very important to her. In her service to Christ, she served as a deaconess, a Sunday School teacher and was a member of an evangelical team. She raised 3 daughters with her first husband, Charles Anderson and set a Christ-like example for them. The result is that all her daughters and her grandchildren have come to know the Lord.

Charlotte’s favorites things were camping, being in the mountains, girls weekends with her daughters and family picnics and gatherings. She loved traveling and adventures. Because her husband Charles was in the U.S. Air Force, she lived in several states and also Germany for 3 years, where she explored castles, markets and the countryside. Charlotte continued her love of travel by going on bus tours to Branson and on several Mystery tours. She loved country music and shared that interest with her second husband Bill Lane, who is a steel guitar player and builder.

Char learned how to decorate cakes in her 30’s and started a small cake decorating business. She made birthday, holiday and wedding cakes and came to be known as the “Cake Lady”. She also donated many cakes for charity and fundraising events.

Char loved to cook for her family. She was always in the kitchen, which naturally transitioned into her first job as a fry cook and waitress for a small restaurant in Forest Lake for a few years. She also did in-home daycare for a time. However, Char spent most of her working years as a circuit solder and assembly line worker.

After retirement Char volunteered many hours as a Family Council member for Maplewood Good Samaritan.

Throughout her life Char enjoyed serving others and the Lord. Those that knew her will always remember her for her smile and her love for Jesus.
