Christine G. Manos, age 82 of Maplewood, passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved on September 10, 2025.
Preceded in death by granddaughter, Marina Emms; and parents, Elene and Theodore Dortsis.
Survived by her husband of 63 years, Michael; daughters, Laura (Tom) Emms and Andrea (Tom) Decker; and brother, Iraklis (Nikki) Dortsis.
Christine had the rare gift of making everyone she met feel like a friend. She knew someone everywhere she went - no errand was ever quick, because she always had a kind word and a bright smile for every person she crossed paths with. Her laughter was contagious, her humor unmatched, and her presence unforgettable.
She spent over 40 years working at John Glenn Middle School, where she formed lifelong friendships and left a lasting mark on generations of students and staff. Her dedication, compassion, and energy made the school a warmer, more welcoming place.
A master of many crafts, she was particularly known for her homemade bread and her unbeatable pita - recipes that will be cherished. She also had a passion for crocheting and sewing, creating beautiful pieces she proudly shared at craft shows and with loved ones. A regular at the Maplewood Community Center/YMCA, she built a second family there - one that brought her joy, laughter, and connection.
She was savvy, smart, and endlessly curious, with a social butterfly spirit that made her the life of every gathering. Whether you knew her for decades or met her once in passing, chances are you remembered her - and you smiled when you did.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, wit, and generosity touched countless lives, and her absence leaves a deep ache in the hearts of all who knew her.
