As a kid he raised homing pigeons as a hobby and won several trophies. He attended Mechanic Arts High School where he played football. He earned the nickname "Bench" because he was often sitting on the bench, but he was a star player. He graduated in 1947 and enlisted in the Marines where he served 8 years. On November 4, 1958 he married Fern Cooper and they had 2 children. He loved going on family vacations and making home videos. He made pasta every Sunday and loved going to his church: St. Rose of Lima.  Chris also worked for Johnson Brothers Distributing for almost 50 years. They were family to him. He didn't want to even retire. The Johnson family was very close to him and have many fond memories of him.  Chris was a loving and caring man that would do anything to help you out if you needed it.
