Darlene (Sautbine-Altman) Erickson

Darlene (Sautbine-Altman) Erickson, lovingly known as "Granny," age 90 of Roseville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Granny was born on July 30, 1936, to Marshall and Alice Sautbine in Pine River, Minnesota. She was the fourth oldest of ten children, although she was always sure to remind everyone that she was the oldest daughter. After graduating high school in Walker, Minnesota, Granny attended classes at Bethel College and even spent some time modeling at a resort in her hometown. She later worked as a manager at McDonald's in Arden Hills and at the Roseville VFW for more than 20 years, where she became a familiar and beloved presence.

She welcomed three children into the world – Linda, Don, and Julie – and spent her life filling their lives with love, laughter, and plenty of personality. Granny had a wonderful talent for sewing and crafts. When Linda and Julie were little, she lovingly made matching dresses for them. Her creativity even earned her a blue ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair for a handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy doll set. She enjoyed flowers, fishing, smoking ribs, and baking her famous cookies.

Her family was her entire world. She loved them deeply, and no family gathering was complete without a group photo. Granny may have been 90 years old, but her spirit was so much younger. She brought love, warmth, and humor wherever she went, leaving behind countless memories that will be cherished forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Alice (née Buhl) Sautbine; and her siblings, Richard, Ronald, Charles, Melvin, Diane, and Donald (Butch).

Granny is survived by her children, Linda Haasl, Donald Altman, and Julie (Donald) Altman-Radermacher; loyal friend and father to her children, George Altman; grandchildren, Melissa, Nathan, Kevin (Nicole), and Lindsey; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis, Mary, and Thomas; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Joanne Wagner.

A visitation will be held 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home, 2130 N. Dale St., Roseville. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m.
