David R. Vinz

May 6, 1942 (Spencer, SD) - July 11, 2025 (St. Paul, MN)

David, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. He left our earthly presence and went to rest in Jesus.

Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Freda (née Meueler); loving step-mother, Lucile Vinz; brothers, Virgil, Henry Jr., James, Warren, and Duane; and sisters, Vivian, Virginia, Juanita, Charlotte, Joyce, and Celeste.

David is survived by his wife, Marianne; three daughters, Jennifer (Josh), Kelly, and Joanna (Jesse); one grandson and three granddaughters.

David was the eleventh child of Henry and Freda Vinz. He was raised on the Vinz family farm north of Spencer, SD. After attending school in SD, David attended Concordia College, St. Paul, where he met his wife Marianne. Later graduating from St. Cloud State University, class of 1966, he was a teacher, realtor, financial planner, and finally a newspaper distributor.

Outside of work he enjoyed socializing with friends, attending church, fishing with grandkids, hunting grouse in the fall, camping at Itasca State Park, playing "500" at the community center and keeping up with current events. He loved a good story or joke and loved to laugh until he cried. Conversing with people was his gift and family was his pride & joy. 

More time is never enough with our loved ones; he will be dearly missed.

Memorial Service 11:00 AM Thursday, July 31 at North Heights Lutheran Church (Roseville Campus), 2701 Rice St. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.
