Lino Lakes

Dennis Michael Halverson, a veteran and long-term resident of Lino Lakes, passed away on December 30 at the age of 72. His battle with Parkinson’s disease in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a quick wit and a smile. Despite the pain, Dennis came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Dennis was a quiet kind soul, who never hesitated to serve his country as well as the community. He proudly served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. Although he never talked about it, he received the Bronze Star for outstanding meritorious service in Vietnam from 1970-1971. He also served on the school board in varying capacities for 25 years - local, state and national.  Most importantly, Dennis loved being a dad. He never missed a game or practice and he successfully passed on his love of the outdoors to his sons.  Dennis is survived by his two sons and their spouses, Jamie & Chandra Halverson and Adam & Sara Halverson; seven grandchildren, Austin, Brooke, Reagan, Gwen, Riley, Kate and Seth; and two sisters, Laura (Brian) Fleisher and Linda Partyka (Rob Darveaux).  Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM on Friday, January 7th at St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church, 171 Elm St, Lino Lakes. Visitation at the church from 9:30-10:30 AM Friday. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Hometown Hero Outdoors are welcomed.
