Dorothy J. Grauel

Dorothy J. Grauel (née Nowicki), age 94, former 71-year resident of Roseville, passed away June 13, 2026.

Dorothy was born on April 27, 1932, to Peter and Wilma Nowicki in Prescott, WI, and was later joined by sister, Eileen and brother, Norman.

Dorothy graduated from Mechanic Arts High School and later worked for the MN Highway Department in the Driver's License Division.

Dorothy met the love of her life, Albert and they were married on December 6th, 1952, after Albert had completed his military service in the US Army. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary last December. They brought four daughters into their family: Cheryl, Barbara, Nancy and Janet. They have also been blessed with eight grandchildren: Jenifer, Mathew, Kristin, Eric, Ashtyn, Alexandra, Aubree and Samantha, who have all lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Dottie". They have been further blessed by 11 great-grandchildren. Her incredible love for her entire family was modeled by her and Albert "Pa Pa" throughout their 73 years of marriage together.

Dorothy found joy in gardening, and for many years was an active member of the Roseville Garden Club. She had a love for live music and singing along! She enjoyed entertaining and had many gatherings at their home with plenty of good food!

From a very young age, Dorothy has had a love for the Lord and for others. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School from the young age of 13 and continued for many decades. She also served on many committees and volunteered at her home church, Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Dorothy celebrated all the friends and relationships that were a part of her church community. She was known for her love for her Lord, and her incredible caring heart. She cherished the many friendships she had and was always so saddened to have to say goodbye to friends and relatives that she held dear to her.

Dorothy's generous and beautiful spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Wilma and Peter Nowicki; brother, Norman Nowicki; brother-in-law, Elbert Colvard; nephew, Gary Colvard; great nephew, Ryan Johnson; father- and mother-in-law, Albert and Florence Grauel; and brother- and sister-in-law, Phillip "Mike" and Carol Grauel.

Survived by beloved husband of 73 years, Albert; daughters, Cheryl (Bill) Bergeron, Barbara (Steve) Herreid, Nancy (Daniel) Hancock, and Janet Elmquist; eight grandchildren and their families; sister, Eileen Colvard; sister-in-law, Carol Nowicki; eight nieces and one nephew; and their families.

Funeral service 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 23 at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3312 Silver Lake Rd NE, St. Anthony, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Monday at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B, and at the church from 10-11 AM Tuesday. Interment Roselawn Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the local food shelf of your choice.
