Jerry Boldt, age 92 of Roseville, MN, very lovingly missed and remembered by family and friends, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 7, 2025.
Preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years, Lois (Kubesh); his parents, Henry and Jean Boldt, and two sisters, Marilyn Idle and Lois Hollenbach.
Survived by wife of 36 years, Diane; son, Steve (Julie Bisch); daughter, Barb (Rick Huelsman); two step-daughters, Suzanne (Scott Rajavuori) and Kristin (Mike Albrecht); brother, Tom (Mary), 9 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was a 1950 graduate of Wilson High School in St. Paul, earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Macalester College in 1959, and a Master’s Degree from St. Thomas in 1965.
An outstanding athlete at a very young age, Jerry received numerous awards along the way, and played professional baseball in the Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago White Sox organizations in 1951 and 1952.
In-between playing pro baseball and his college years, Jerry served for two years in the Army and spent time in Korea during the Korean War in 1953.
Jerry had an outstanding career as a teacher at Columbia Heights High School for 34 years, and was the head baseball coach for 29 of those years, winning two North Suburban Conference championships and a state tournament appearance in 1978. He also spent time as an assistant coach in football and wrestling, assisted in starting the hockey program in 1968, and was a drivers ed teacher for several years in the summer.
Jerry was a natural teacher, mentor, and role model to so many people he came in contact with. No one he met was a stranger to him; he was respected and remembered by all who came in contact with him.
In retirement, Jerry enjoyed golf, his cabin on Lake Superior, traveling, and winters in Tucson, AZ. He remained active to the very end; exercising for at least an hour every day.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jerry 11:00 AM Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 W. Roselawn Ave., Roseville. Visitation will be held at the church from 10-11 AM Saturday. Private interment will occur at Roselawn Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial to your favorite charity is preferred.
