James Raymond Dueber

January 16, 1943 — February 18, 2025

St. Paul

Emblem

Jim passed away peacefully on February 18.

He was preceded by brothers, Bob and Tom.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon (née Zech); children, Mike (Jody), Bill (Danit), and Molly; grandchildren, Grace, Ziv, Leo, Nadav, and Shai.

Jim was an electrician by trade, a woodworker by hobby, everyone’s handyman with the motto “I’ll figure it out”, and a dedicated tinkerer.

A lifelong St. Paul resident, Jim graduated in 1961 from St. Agnes High School and served his country in the Army Reserves. For more than 50 years, he practiced his trade as a licensed electrician and as an IBEW Local 110 Union member.

Married to the love of his life for 58 years, he and Sharon were a perfect fit. They shared a complete commitment to their families and their values of kindness, fairness, usefulness, hard work, fun. Both enjoyed their travel adventures with the kids and during their early retirement years. They treasured their time together and never left each other without a kiss.

Jim had a lifelong passion for team sports. From youth to adulthood, he played many sports, continuing with hockey and softball into his 40s. He eagerly attended his children's and grandchildren's games, often offering his own "coaching" from the sidelines. Jim also enjoyed following Minnesota sports teams, sharing his insights on the game and the referees' calls.

Jim was a generous man who readily shared his talents. He volunteered at North Dale playground, with Cub Scouts, and dedicated many hours to the church and community. During his lifetime, he donated more than 25 gallons of blood. He was particularly proud of his involvement with Bridging and building the St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palaces.

More than anything, Jim cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a constant presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren, supporting them at countless events and always offering encouragement and love.

Petitions

The repose of the soul of Jim, that he may find eternal rest in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. May he dwell in Your house forever, busy with projects and repairs, and ensure enough outlets are in every room. We pray.

For peace in our troubled world, especially in Israel and the surrounding regions. May God's wisdom guide leaders to seek reconciliation, protect innocent lives, and end the ongoing conflict. Let’s take Jim’s example and get everyone together and play catch. We pray.

For those living with Alzheimer's and dementia, may they experience comfort and dignity in their journey. We also pray for their caregivers, blessing them with strength, patience, and compassion as they provide loving care. We pray.

For all of us who knew Jim at different stages of his life: his mischievous youth, trusted friend, loving husband, devoted parent, in-law, and grandpa, and then in his journey with Alzheimer's. May we hold on to the most cherished memories of him, with gratitude for his kindness, helpful hands, and quiet wisdom. Grant us the grace to celebrate the fullness of his life and the lasting impact he had on each of us. We pray.

In celebration of our family, old friends and new, and the community that Jim and Sharon built around them. May we stand together to honor Jim's legacy, being inspired to share our time and talents with the confidence to fix, play, build, drive, travel and love. May his memory encourage us to foster connections and support one another. We pray.
