James “Jim” Lowell Mansager, age 79, of Shoreview, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Jim was born on July 28, 1946, in Fairmont, Minnesota, to Bernard and Faye Mansager. He grew up in Trimont, Minnesota, where he shared his childhood with his brothers John, Richard (Dick), and Bernie (Bear), and his sisters Linda and Cheryl. A 1964 graduate of Trimont High School, he went on to attend Mankato Business School from 1964 to 1967.

In 1967, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country honorably until 1969, including time stationed in the DMZ in Korea. Upon his return, he found his lifelong adventurer in Marilyn Toenjes, and the two were wed on September 18, 1971. Together they raised three children - Cara, Bryan, and Joel.

In 1981, Jim began a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service. Over the course of 30 years, he was a familiar and friendly face on his route, delivering more than just mail—he delivered kindness and built lasting friendships along the way.

While he was a dedicated letter carrier, his true North Star was his family. He spent his retirement and his free time pouring every ounce of his energy and heart into those he loved. He will be remembered as a deeply devoted family man who always put others before himself.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn, daughter Cara McGregor (JT Szopo), sons Bryan (Janeen) and Joel (Carmen), his siblings Linda and Cheryl, grandchildren Owen, Cullen, Carter, and Blake, and a large circle of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard, Faye, and Harold Hoelmer, and his brothers John, Dick, and Bear.
