Age 62 - Of St. Paul, MN We are deeply saddened with the loss and passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He grew up in Frogtown and Rice Street and excelled in football, baseball, hockey, golf, softball, broomball, and boxing. He received a full college scholarship for baseball and was a Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight Champion Boxer out of the Rice St. Gym, coached by Jay Pelzer in the late 70's. He loved Rice Street and kept his postal route there for 30 years until he retired a few years ago. He will be remembered for all of that, as well as being a fun loving guy who enjoyed dancing, fishing, cribbage, cards, playing the harmonica, and being with family and friends. Preceded in death by mother, Barbara Quickstad; father, George Quickstad; and brother, Martin Quickstad. Survived by son, Jeffrey Quickstad (Elizabeth); daughter, Jordan Carroll (Nicholas); grandsons, Vincent and Andrew Quickstad; and girlfriend, Diane Rickey. Further survived by brothers, Craig Quickstad (Mary) and Thomas Quickstad (Mary); sisters, Karin Bauer (Joseph) and Mary Jo York; along with many nieces and nephews. A visitation to celebrate Jim's life will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM on Friday, March 12 at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME - ROSEVILLE, 2130 N.
