Janice A. Moen (Roen)

Janice Alma Moen (Roen)  age 74, died peacefully surrounded by her husband and two sons, and went to her heavenly home on December 22, 2022.

Jan was born on May 3, 1948 to Arnie and Ada Roen in Madison, MN. She and her older brother, Arvin, were “town kids” and well known throughout the community growing up. They continued to stay closely connected with family and friends from their childhood.

Jan married the love of her life, Harvey Moen in 1969, whom she met in kindergarten, and recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary. They were blessed to walk side-by-side through many wonderful seasons of life together. Harv and Jan had two sons, Jeff, and Jason. They raised their boys in St. Anthony and Roseville, MN. Jan cherished being a mom and was her boy’s number-one fan in whatever they were doing; hockey, baseball, or anything else. Her love and support for them continued and she cheered them on as husbands and fathers. She warmly welcomed and supported their wives and affectionately called them daughters-in-love.

For the past twenty years, Jan’s Thursdays were dedicated to her grandkids: Annie, Ava, Sam, Natalie, Natalia, Ada, and Austin. Jan referred to “Thursdays-with-Nana” as her holy-day. Jan and Harv set aside the day to focus on whatever sounded fun for the kids: going to the park, feeding the ducks, going shopping, baking, watching movies… It was a highlight and blessing for all involved and cherished relationships were formed and deepened. 

Professionally, Jan graduated from the University of Minnesota and went on to a 40-year career as a dental hygienist, a profession she loved. She mostly loved getting to know her patients and co-workers over the many years. She retired in 2010.
Throughout life, Jan had many passions highlighted by her love for the Lord, gardening, music, sports, & hosting people in their home. Jan had many close friendships that spanned decades. Time spent with family was valued, cherished, and full of laughter. She was always quick to laugh (often at inappropriate times), had a dazzling smile, and always a sparkle in her eyes. She was an incredible listener and our fiercest advocate, making all she knew feel special. Our family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers during this time.

Celebration of Jan's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7 at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 W. Roselawn Ave., Roseville. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Friday, January 6 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B, and at the church from 10-11 AM Saturday.
