Jeanne "Tulie" Lou (Witzig) Schumacher

July 7, 1933 — March 27, 2024

Roseville, MN

Jeanne Schumacher, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 27, 2024 at the age of 90.

Tulie was known for her sense of humor, creativity, sharp memory, generosity, and unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was incredibly humble and had a penchant for seeing the best in people and treating everyone with respect and kindness.

Tulie was born on July 7, 1933, to Homer and Jennie Witzig in Superior, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Evelyn, Lucille, Bette, Ruth, Jim, Max, and Natalie.

After graduating from Superior East High School in 1951, Tulie moved to the Twin Cities where she worked at Rilco, and met the love of her life, Vern. They married in 1957, just months after their first date. Tulie stayed home to raise their four children and help care for many grand and great-grandchildren, sharing with them some of her many loves including the Cottage, puzzles, music, old movies, antiques, traveling, and family history.

She was well-known for her knowledge and love of wildlife, and took great care to ensure the squirrels, chipmunks, birds, deer, and other animals around her home were well-fed. She was always the winner of family card games, could beat anyone in Wheel of Fortune, had unrivaled photo editing skills as seen in the many personalized electronic greeting cards she made for friends and family, she loved nature and the outdoors, and some of her favorite memories included family gatherings, traveling, and enjoying quality time with family and friends at “the Cottage” in Wascott, Wisconsin.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed by her surviving family members: husband, Vern; sons, Jim (Lori), Kent, Kurt (April); daughter, Jennifer (Jon) Lahti; grandchildren Michael (Megan), Jason (Samantha), Jessica, Nicole, Jeff, Jesse LaVercombe, Jacob Lahti, Lucas, and Sarah Lahti; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Keira, Sofia, Mackenna, Lillian, & Bennett.

A private family interment will be held at the Wascott Cemetery in Wascott, WI.
