Jerry L. Merrell

In loving memory of Jerry Merrell, who passed away at his home on July 3rd, 2024.

Jerry was born on August 10th, 1967 in Rock Island, Illinois. Jerry grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa and graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1985. He later settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he began his career in quality engineering. He most recently worked at Integer Holdings in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. 

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. He was a proud rock ‘n roller, the lead guitarist to many original and cover bands, including State of Revolution, Ten-2-One, Smuj’d, Conditional Chaos, Outlaw Saints, and the Barbarians. He loved motorcycles and classic cars. His pride and joy was his 2020 Harley Davidson Street Glide that he would cruise on during his free time. 

Jerry's circle of family and friends extends beyond boundaries. He is survived by his wife, Amy (Larson) Merrell; stepsisters Raejean (Merrell) Clemments, Stacey (Cutkomp) Terhune, Anna (Cutkomp) Bousson; his aunts, Pam (Cutkomp) Ostrand and Carol (Merrell) Houston; and his uncles “Dusty” Cutkomp and Bill Cutkomp. 

Preceding him in death were his parents, Jerry Merrell (father); Linda Cutkomp (mother); Ruth Merrell (stepmother); step brothers, Duane "Beaver" Hylton, Gary Hylton, Brian Hylton; and stepsister, Linda Hylton. 

A  Celebration of Life service for Jerry will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, July 19 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Lino Lakes, 7050 Lake Dr. (Co Hwy 23). Visitation 1 hour prior to the service (3-4 PM) Friday.

A second celebration is being planned for those in the Quad Cities with date, time and location to be determined. 

May he rest in peace knowing that he taught people “it’s not too late to learn how to love and forget how to hate”.
