Joan M. Smevoll

Age 93 of Roseville, passed away on February 26, 2025. 

Joan was born in Hutchinson, MN to John & Stella Schmidt. As a child they moved to St. Cloud, MN. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud and St. Gabriel’s School of Nursing in Little Falls, MN. She was a lifelong nurse and nurturer. Joan was a woman of faith and always had a rosary in her hands. Her kindness and love for her family and friends was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was also known for her incredible sweet tooth. You could always find her near the “cookie jar”. 

Preceded in death by husband, Earl “Roy”; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernadette (Dan) Scanlon, Irene (Dick) Stawarski; sister-in-law, Sharon Smevoll. 

Survived by daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Holmstrom; son, Eric (Julie); loving grandmother to Jordan, Jacob, and Jared; loving Aunt Joanie to many nieces and nephews. 

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday, March 21 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2090 Hamline Ave N. Roseville. Visitation from 4-8 PM Thursday, March 20 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home-Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. @ County Road B and from 9:30-10:30 AM Friday at the church. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Meet at Assembly Area #6 by 12:30 PM.
