John Thomas "Jack" Curtis, age 84 of Woodville, WI, formerly of Roseville, passed away December 18, 2023.
Preceded in death by parents, Steve and Marie; brothers, Ted, Jim and Steve; and sister, Rosemary Bittorff.
Survived by his loving wife, Iris (nee Graunke); sons, Jonathan (Jeanne) and Kevin (Laurie); daughter, Camilla (Tony); grandchildren, Collin, Brayden, Madeline, Christopher, Jacob, Madison, Alannah and Ellanor; brothers, Bill (Carol) and Bob; many nieces and nephews.
Jack was a strong man of faith, a fun-loving brother, a faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
His experiences growing up on the family farm with five brothers and one sister created in him a foundation of the importance of a strong family bond. He would often share memories of farm work, school, family pranks, fishing in Canada, camping, racing cars, and serving in the Army.
Jack brought these values into his marriage with Iris as he was an adoring husband who modeled for his children the respect and partnership that is essential to a healthy relationship. Their relationship was based on their faith and trust in Jesus. He enjoyed spending time with his family camping, fishing, doing projects around the house and teaching his children the importance of hard work and determination. It didn’t matter if you were a girl or boy, he made sure you knew how to cut the lawn, value your education, change your oil, take a fish off the hook, watch a Packer game, and enjoy a Spotted Cow.
As a grandfather, he enjoyed helping cart kids around to different events whether at King of Kings or out in Woodville. He would light up watching them play in sports, perform in musicals, display their 4-H projects, and share their many talents in different ways. One of his missions in life was to make sure his grandchildren knew how to fish, and he would invite them to test their skills with early morning trips at the annual cabin week summer vacation. They all have memories of spending time with Grandpa on his fishing boat.
Jack was a friend to many and spent countless hours volunteering at church. He would share his love for God and wanted us all to understand that we were saved by faith in Jesus. He tried to model this with unconditional love and service. He used his abilities as a fix-it man to keep King of Kings and Concordia Academy looking good. Jack enjoyed the company of friends while playing cards, dancing, going on fishing trips, and participating in Bible studies in both Minnesota and Arizona.
Jack will live on in our memories as he showed us how to live a full and meaningful life.
