John "Jack" Herdina

Age 86, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025.

Jack was born in Henryville, MN on May 20, 1939 to Edward and Hattie (Zetah) Herdina. He was the fourth of fourteen children. He grew up in Olivia, MN and graduated from Olivia High School in 1957.

He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany building radar stations.

Jack loved to dance, whether it was on roller skates or at the dance hall. He met his bride-to-be, Dianne, at the Gibbon Ballroom. They were married on July 23, 1966.

They raised their two children, Tim and Colleen in Centerville, MN where they were lifelong residents. For many years after retirement, they wintered in Arizona. This past year, they called Keystone Fields their home.

Jack was employed at 3M for over 30 years before taking early retirement.

Jack loved being with people, whether it was playing cards or throwing dice. His other interests over the years included pool, ice fishing, bingo and tending to his tomato and flower plants. You could always find Jack behind the camera taking pictures at various family and friend gatherings. Jack was well loved and a friend to all.

Survived by wife of 59 years, Dianne; children Tim (Tonia) Herdina and Colleen (Jason) Schuldt; grandchildren: Bradi Herdina, Blake (Alysia) Herdina, Autumn Schuldt, Jack Schuldt and siblings: Richard (Max) Herdina, Audrey Goelz, Stan Herdina, Lowell (Jean) Herdina, Larry (Judy) Herdina, Gloria (John) Lothert, Edward (Gladys) Herdina, Sylvia (John) Diebel, Gayle (Larry) Fujan and many treasured nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Preceded in death by parents Edward and Hattie (Zetah) Herdina, and siblings Mary Jane (Herdina) Frank, Ursula (Herdina) Hennen, Rodney Herdina and Geraldine (Herdina) Scarlett.

Visitation 4:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, September 4 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home (Lino Lakes), 7050 Lake Dr. (Co Hwy 23).

Visitation 10:00 - 11:00 AM Friday, September 5 at St. Genevieve Parish Community Center, 6995 Centerville Rd., Centerville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. The Mass will be broadcast via livestream using this link.

Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
