Joseph A. Urbanski

Loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, Joseph Addison Urbanski, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, surrounded by family at home in Eagan, Minnesota.

Born on April 16, 1937 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Joseph—known to many as Joe—lived a full and meaningful life rooted in family, faith, and hard work. A lifelong Catholic, Joe’s values were reflected in the way he lived each day—with dedication to those he loved and a deep sense of purpose. We will miss his quick wit and remember all his humorous sayings.

Joe was married to the love of his life, Kathy (Racine), for 64 years. Together they raised four children: Joe (Melissa), Jill Johnson (Terry), Andrea LaCroix (Dave), and Nicole Jansma (Andy). He was incredibly proud of his kids. He was a devoted grandpa to Jake (Sammy), Terry (Hannah), Sam, Joseph (Molly), Aidan, Will, Sophia, Mina, and Ethan; and a cherished great-grandpa to Max, Josie, Mya, Wells, and Townes.

In 1969, Joe founded J&D Builders, a business that became not only his professional legacy but also a family tradition. Through decades of commitment and craftsmanship, Joe built more than homes—he built a foundation for future generations. Today, his son and grandsons proudly carry on the business he started over half a century ago.

Joe had a passion for reading and loved being in the sun. He especially treasured winters spent in Fort Myers Beach, Florida—fishing from the shore or boating the intercoastal and gulf. He retired at 58 and he and Kathy enjoyed over 35 years of friendships and great family memories in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes Urbanski; his brother, Richard; and his granddaughter, Jessica Urbanski.

A Celebration of Joe's life will be held at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B, on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, with a memorial service beginning at 1 PM. Immediately following the service, a private family interment will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Little Canada. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to the Lillehei Heart Institute.
