Joyce M. Kray (Edson)

Joyce Marie Kray (Edson), 75, of Saint Paul, peacefully joined our Lord on Friday, June 12, 2020 at home. ​Joyce was born in St. Paul and grew up in many cities in the metro area. She attended St. Rose of Lima and St. John the Baptist schools, graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1962 and attended St. Benedict’s College in St. Joseph. At the age of 21, Joyce married Donald Kray on September 6, 1965, and they were blessed with five children: Glenn, David, Edward, Thomas and Lorraine. Initially, Joyce worked at Edson’s Grocery where she met her now husband of 54 years. She worked at 1st State Bank (later called U.S Bank) for many years before retiring in 2012 to allow her to enjoy her hobbies and grandchildren. Joyce was known for her love of the Edson cabin and spending time at the lake. She enjoyed baking, sewing, embroidering, gardening, reading, and doing family-history. If she wasn’t playing a hand of cards, she could be found bribing her grandkids with Tic-Tac candies, going to museums, touring churches, or traveling. She was very generous and always stepped up to bake desserts for the funeral ministries at church. She was also a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. Joyce is preceded in death by parents, George and Marie Edson; and son, Edward. She is survived by husband, Donald of St. Paul; children, Glenn (Gina) Kray of St. Paul, David (Cathy) Kray of Roseville, Thomas Kray of White Bear Lake, Lorraine (David) Stafford of Columbus; 16 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Timothy (Tara), Joseph (Audrey), Jonathan, William, Brendan, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Brian, Charlie, Crystal, Carleigh, Theresa, Samuel, Catherine, James; 3 great granddaughters, Taylor, Tessa and Ella; siblings, Daniel (Joanne) Edson of Grand Marais, Joan (Jerome) Pieper of Norwood Young America, Gale Nelson of Woodbury, David (Shari) Edson of Maplewood, Linda (Dallas) Schute of New Brighton, and many nieces and nephews.​​Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Tuesday, June 23 MATERNITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1414 N.
