It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Justin "Jay Mo" Moeller, loving father, son, brother, loved one, and community member who passed away on April 18, 2026 at the age of 45 due to complications of cancer.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Warren & Mary (Smyth) Soule, Leonard & Dorothy (Eberhardt) Moeller; and mother, Barbara (Soule) Moeller.
He is survived by father, Steven Moeller; daughter, Shenette Julien; partner in life, Shenequa Julien; sisters, Jessica Moeller (Luciano Najera, Jr.) and Lizzy Reilly (Ben Reilly); brother; Joel Tanem (Heather Tanem); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and extended family.
Driven always to stand up for what's right, Justin will eternally be remembered as a force of power in his community, he showed up in so many ways and that will never be forgotten. He was born in rural Minnesota in 1980 and has been in the Twin Cities area since the late 80's. He was deeply proud to be a member of the Minneapolis community and humbly supported his community behind the scenes for many, many years. He was always willing to help, to give advice, to volunteer to help. He was always the first to show up and last to leave.
He touched the lives of so many; directly through his activism, community-focused work, and indirectly through the impacts he made rallying so many others to stand up for what is right. He proudly stood in solidarity with so many; through bad weather, when it was uncomfortable, when it was inconvenient, and even after being diagnosed with cancer. He remained active in showing up and voicing his support, even if not physically. He loved so fully and is loved by so many.
Among the many milestones of his well-lived life, his daughter Shenette was indeed the apple of his eye and there was rarely a time when he didn't share of her accomplishments, life updates, and express his profound pride for all the good that she encompasses.
Justin's legacy of humor, perseverance, humility, and standing up for what's right will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration; a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit.
Celebration of Life information will be shared shortly, as we hope to honor him through gathering family, friends, and community. If anyone has planned a gathering in his honor, please reach out and include his daughter and his family.
