Preceded in death by husband, Edward B. Gruening; son, Edward J. Gruening; and sister, Marie Nordin.
Survived by daughters, Ellen Gruening (Al), Shelley (Don) Mangen; grandsons, Eddie (Kat) Gruening, Donny (Brittany) Mangen; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.

Private interment St. John's Church Cemetery, Little Canada.
