Laverne Gerald Ziebell, age 89, formerly of Austin, MN and Bena, MN, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at Eagle Crest Assisted Living in Roseville, MN.

Laverne was born on July 17, 1937, in London Township, Minnesota, to Otto and Bernice (Cipra) Ziebell. Laverne attended District 51 country school and graduated from Austin High School in 1955. He worked at Oliver before joining the Army in 1960. On April 9, 1960, he was united in marriage to Beverly Hayes at the First Methodist Church, Austin, MN. Their union was blessed with four children, Karen, Carol, Joan and Wayne. Laverne worked as a Machinist starting with American Can Company in 1962 in Austin, MN, retiring in 1994.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen Turnmire of Burnsville and Carol (Joe) Amos of St. Paul, son Wayne (Carmen) Ziebell of New Brighton; grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy), Ryan (Agnes), Alan (Karen), Erin, Jason, Mike (Julia), Alex and Aurora, great-grandchildren Emma, Sidney, Mason, Owen, Lorelei, Ethan, Natalie, Luke and Kali; sisters, Frances (Keith) Olson of Northwood, IA and Virginia Knight of Mantorville, MN; brother, David (Patsy) Ziebell of Emmons, MN; sister-in-law, Karen Ziebell of Grand Meadow, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Hayes) Ziebell in 2024, daughter Joan (Ziebell) Paul in 2001; parents, Otto and Bernice Ziebell; parents-in-law, Al and Dora Hayes; sisters, RosaLea Churchill. Irene Paape and Marie Dempewolf; brothers, Fred Ziebell, George Ziebell, and Lawrence Ziebell; sisters-in-law, Elaine Ziebell and Lois Ziebell; and brothers-in-law, Burton Churchill, Virgil Dempewolf, and Ronald Knight.

A funeral service for Laverne will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2561 N. Victoria St., Roseville, MN followed by a luncheon. The visitation will take place from 10:00 - 11:00 am Thursday preceding the service at the church. 

Interment will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Myrtle, MN at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 19.
