“Len””Lenny” left this earth peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Edie and Ed Salverda.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Judy; his 3 daughters, Jody (Ron) Sherwood, Gina (Keith) Theisen, and Tracy (Rick) Salverda; and his beautiful grandchildren, Katrina, James, Maddie, Kelsey, Tyler and Jill; his brother, Don (Bonnie) Salverda; his sister, Ruthie Graff; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
Len was born in St Paul MN in 1943 and graduated from Ramsey High School in 1961. He went on to trade school to become a sheet metal worker and joined Sheet Metal Workers Local #10 where he had a long and successful career in HVAC and ultimately air balancing. He was an air balancing instructor at the Local #10 Sheet Metal Training Center and St Paul College as well. He was literally a jack of all trades.
Len had so many passions in life its hard to summarize them all but we have to try. Lenny loved racing boats, fixing boat motors, waterskiing, downhill skiing, boating, bicycling, camping, rock climbing, building/modifying/racing solar powered boats, unicycling, juggling, ice carving, making ice, dancing, teaching, building unicycles, building stilts, designing/inventing and building many things, dog sled racing, watching northern lights, waterskiing on canoe paddles, traveling, bird watching, building/flying model airplanes, and welding. He was also a master gardener, cookie monster, mechanic, the best slip n slide creator, driving instructor (car & boat), beekeeper, airplane pilot, modifier, teacher, knot expert, giant bubble maker, expert at swimming pool maintenance. He was an all around genius. This man was the smartest man there was. He did it all.
Lenny was so many things to so many people. He taught everyone he met in life something about something whether it be big or small. Most importantly, he taught people how to smile and have fun! He will be missed by many. He gave so many people so many great memories we can hold close. May he be at peace and free of pain as he disappears into the best socks-off sunset he has ever seen. Rest in peace Dad. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
