Lois Rae Lang (née Ascheman) Age 75, of St. Paul passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Lois was preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Ascheman (née Hermes); her father, John Raymond Ascheman; beloved husband, Kenneth M. Lang; and sister-in-law, Darlene Ascheman.
She is survived by her three children, Michael (Gwen) Lang, Michelle (Rich) Tschida, and Jennifer Bois (Steve Flaherty); her eight grandchildren, Brendan, Frank, Kennedy, Marco, Gavin, Vinny, Kierra, and Lukas; and her seven siblings, John (Judy) Ascheman, Jim Ascheman, Jeanne (Dick) Hanly, Tom (Deb) Ascheman, Mary (Tom) Fitzgerald, David Ascheman, and Lynn (Dave) Linder. Lois was also dearly loved by dozens of nieces and nephews.
Lois was very shy and humble about her beauty, but her bright smile and genuine humility were unmistakable to all who knew her. She was a devoted and loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. Those who knew her will remember her as “Little Lowie”. Her stature was small at 4’11” yet her bright smile and beauty filled the room.
Her closest friendships were found within her own family—especially her children and siblings—who all shared the unmistakable and contagious “Ascheman” laugh. From being crowned Prom Queen in 1969 to becoming an avid pool player, golf enthusiast, and formidable cribbage player, Lois lived a life full of quiet strength and surprising spark. She adored her children and grandchildren and was immensely proud of each of them.
Though her life was not without hardship, Lois faced every challenge with determination and grit. She fought her long battle with cancer bravely and, true to who she was, left this world on her own terms—exactly as those who loved her would have expected.
