Marijo “Jo” (Kneer) Schwiderski passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Jo was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on October 25, 1946, to George and Loretta (Notch) Kneer. She attended St. Andrew’s Grade School and graduated from St. Agnes High School. Later in life, Jo attended Rainy River College and earned her degree while raising her children - a testament to her perseverance. With a love of life, art, and adventure, Jo moved to New Orleans with her dear friend Rosie, where she embraced new experiences and created cherished memories. She later returned to Minnesota, where she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Schwiderski. Together, they built a life and family in International Falls, Minnesota.

Throughout her life, Jo wore many hats. She worked as waitress at the Mustache Club in New Orleans, a police dispatcher and many years as a teaching assistant in preschool. Whatever role she held, she brought warmth, dedication, and care to her work. Jo’s creativity was one of the qualities that made her so special. As an artist, she not only painted, but mastered the art of calligraphy. If you were fortunate enough to receive a card from her, it was most likely homemade. A treasured tradition were the unique Birthday banners she made for her children and grandchildren every year!

Jo was dependable, trustworthy, strong-willed, silly, and deeply loving. Being a mother and grandmother brought her the greatest joy in life. Her five adored grandchildren—Daniel, Eliana, Samuel, Abigail, and Gabriella—brought her immense happiness. Jo’s family was her heart, and the love she shared with them will live on through the memories they hold dear.

She is survived by her two loving children, Angie (David) Dutrieuille and Nich Schwiderski; her cherished grandchildren; her siblings, Ken (Jan) Kneer, Nancy (Mike) Byrne, and Michelle Tait; as well as extended family and many wonderful friends.

Jo had a special gift for making people feel loved. She radiated warmth and kindness, and her presence meant so much to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but also for the love she gave so freely. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable ache, her love will remain a lasting part of every life she touched and we look forward to seeing her in heaven one day.

A private family memorial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.
