Marilyn Rae Halverson passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was 83 years old, born June 12, 1943, in Berne, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; and parents, Ronald & Lula (Giesler) Bennerotte.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Todd) Peters; grandson, Eddie Peters; granddaughter, Sara (Jason) Noren; siblings, Roland (Lynda) Bennerotte, M. Kay Kleven, and Randy (Julie) Bennerotte.

Marilyn graduated from West Concord High School in West Concord, MN in 1961.

She retired from Wells Fargo after 33 years.

Marilyn was an AVID Minnesota sports fan! She was a #1 Vikings and Twins fan, even when the aforementioned team didn't win the Super Bowl(s). She loved collecting sports memorabilia. The satisfaction of finding those special items brought her great joy.

She and Fred thoroughly enjoyed their cabin in Grand Marais on Devil's Track Lake. She had many fun adventures with her grandkids, including hot air balloon rides, attending TwinsFest & Twins games, hiking up Eagle Mountain & Devil's Track River, visiting Devil's Kettle, Split Rock Lighthouse, and many more.

After retiring, some of her adventures included an Alaskan cruise and walking on glaciers. She loved visiting with friends and rubbing elbows with sports memorabilia dealers.

She often said, "If you don't laugh, you'll cry." Her positive attitude gave her super strength and carried her far in life.

Interment at Maple Hill Cemetery in Grand Marais, MN at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
