Marlys Hultquist, age 92, of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, with family at her side.

Born on August 12, 1933 in St. Paul, Marlys grew up with a strong sense of faith, kindness and family. She had a natural talent and passion for music. A self-taught pianist, she filled her home with beautiful melodies throughout her life. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and above all time with family and friends. She married the love of her life, John, with whom she shared many years of love, laughter, and partnership.

Her faith in God guided her throughout her life, shaping her kind and joyful spirit. Together, Marlys and John built a life rooted in love and hard work. They were proud owners of Hul-Tite Tool. Marlys also held executive administrative roles with Hormel Foods and Orange County, where she was admired for her professionalism and dedication.

Her compassion extended beyond people to animals, especially to stray and abandoned cats. She had a special gift ̶ they found her, and she took them in. After the passing of her dearly beloved husband, John, her loyal companions, Wally and Buddy, brought her great comfort and joy for many years.

Marlys is preceded in death by her husband, John Hultquist; grandsons, Joseph (“Joey”) and James (“Jimmy”) Hultquist; sister, Joyce George; and brother, Loren Fillion.

Marlys is survived by her son, Keith (Marlene); daughter, Lynn (Bob) Nelson; brothers, William (Sue) Fillion and Robert Fillion; grandchildren, Sheri, Shana, Krissa, and Kacie; great-grandchildren, Dominque, Trey, Presten, Steven, Jasmine, Kaylee, Courtney, Gary, and Ryker; and one great-great-granddaughter, Scarlett, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

A special thank you to all the staff and caregivers at both Roseville and Woodbury New Perspectives Senior Living for all the love, care and support during the last seven years.
