Marlys M. Truitt

Marlys passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025 at the age of 89.

She is preceded in death by brother, Jim; and niece, Chrissy Tschida.

She is survived by loving and devoted nieces, Connie (Rob) McKee, Jody (Greg) McElroy, Karen (Tom) Crawford; nephew-in-law, Frank Tschida; as well as sister-in-law, Janet Truitt.

She was a proud great-aunt of Josh, Ally (Abe), Chad, Dani, Nicki, Cara (Jeremy) and Kelly. While she was preceded in death by many loving relatives and friends, she had many additional friends and family who have played an important part of her life, especially in her later years.

Three very special cousins – John, Jerry and Jim Grieman, brought a lot of laughter, card playing, trips to Arizona and fun holidays. They were an important part of her life.

Early in her career, Marlys was an elementary teacher at St. Agnes. After switching to St. Paul Schools and working in several elementary schools, she found her niche in special education with learning disabled children. She worked at Groveland Elementary until her retirement. Marlys maintained many friendships from her St. Paul School teaching days – Crafts, Club and various lunch outings with the ladies.

Her early days and later years, found her happiest playing a game of cards (or any game for that matter), spending time at her cabin (fishing and picking berries) and being surrounded by family.

When the great nephews/nieces were young, she was an eager babysitter, and at the cabin could always be found rocking a little one on the swing, reading a book or playing a game.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 25 at Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, 1414 N. Dale St., St. Paul. Visitation will be held at the church from 9-10 AM Wednesday. Interment Roselawn Cemetery.
