Mary Catherine Flaherty

Age 89, of St. Paul​Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 24, 2021.​Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Gerald (Jerry) Flaherty, Sr.; granddaughter, Christine Flaherty; parents, Clarence and Pearl Johnson; brothers, Walter, William, Thomas, Gene, and Jerry; sisters, Betty Zschokke and Shirley Struss (Windish).  She is survived by 5 children, Jerry (Sue), Steve (Melissa), Sandy (Sam) Monita, Lynn (Robb) Walrath, and Laurie (Mike) Kush; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Larry Flaherty; sisters-in-law, Peggy Duffy and Mabel "Mick" Flaherty; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.  Mary loved spending time with her family and friends, especially at the Flaherty’s Hideaway in Duxbury. St. Patrick’s Day was special to her. She was an annual participant and frequent Winner of the annual “Worst Irish Tenor” Competition. ​        “To know her was to love her; she was one hell of a gal.”  ​Special thanks to the staff of Allina Health Hospice for the thoughtful, respectful and helpful care they gave her in her final days. We could not have done it without them.  Funeral Service 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 7 at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-ROSEVILLE, 2130 N. Dale @ Cty Rd B. Visitation 4-8 PM Monday, December 6 and also 10-11 AM before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Internment is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Masks are required by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
