Michael J. Boespflug

September 12, 1944 — June 12, 2025

Michael J. “Mickey” Boespflug, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away June 12, 2025, after a long, hard, and bravely fought battle with multiple illnesses.

Mickey was born September 12, 1944 in Elgin, ND to Michael and Leona Boespflug. He was the eldest of seven children and was raised in a loving family in New England, ND, where he was instilled with strong Catholic values. Mickey’s devotion to his faith guided him throughout his life.

Mickey graduated from St. Mary's High School, New England, ND in 1962. After service in the United States Army, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Kampf, in 1967. They were blessed with three children he loved deeply and was so proud of, and later three grandchildren that he loved to dote on. Mickey coached and managed little league baseball, and did his best to be there for the many activities his children and grandchildren were involved with, and he fostered in them a love of sports and a strong work ethic.

Mickey found joy in fishing, spending time at the family cabin with his loved ones, road trips and outings with friends and family, playing cards, watching hockey, listening to old time country music, and learning about history. Mickey retired from Vincent Metals/Ryerson in Minneapolis after a rewarding 30 year career, then spent the winters with Joan driving to warmer locations.

Mickey will be missed by Joan, his wife of 57 years; children, Lynne, Mike (Tressa), and Jack; grandchildren, Madeline, Oliver, and Katie; siblings, Richard (Jan), Sharon Runcorn, Mark (Valerie), Paul (Jeanne), Karla (Paul) Erickson, and Donald (Shelly); brothers-in-law, John (Lori) and Don Kampf; four godsons; and many loving nieces and nephews. Receiving him in Heaven are his parents; infant grandson Lucas Boespflug; brother-in-law Duane Runcorn; parents-in-law, John and Ann Kampf; and many, many friends and relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 19, 2025 at St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church, 171 Elm St., Lino Lakes. Friends and family will be received at the church one hour prior to service. A church luncheon will be served following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church, the Shriners Hospital for Children, Disabled Veterans of America, Grace Hospice, or St. Therese Senior Care at St. Odilia’s.
