Michael W. Gibson

Michael W. “Hoot” Gibson, age 69 of St. Paul, passed away peacefully, with family by his side on April 28, 2026.

Mike was a mechanical engineer for Onan Cummins corporation for over 33 years. He was an avid hunter and outdoors enthusiast for his entire life. Mike was well known for his story telling and jokes.

While attending school at TVI, Mike met Elisabeth Richter. They married in 1978 and raised 5 children. After Beth passed away in 2011, Mike married Melodie Richter in 2013. He retired in 2015 and spent much of his time at the cabin and travelling.

Mike is survived by his second wife, Melodie; children, Jon (Becky) Richter, Jacque (Corey) Uhlar, Charles, Adam (Sarah), and Ben (Mallory); 19 grandchildren, sister, Kathy (Bob) Gibson Christensen; brother, Dan; 7 stepchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Beth; granddaughter, Danielle; his parents and grandparents.

A private memorial service will be held by immediate family and close friends at a later date.
