Michael Mace Thomas

Michael Mace Thomas, age 48, of Roseville, MN, passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrest, after performing in Mary Poppins, on Sunday, July 13, 2025. His obituary picture was taken just two days prior, in character, and we think it deeply reflects his whimsical spirit.

He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Doherty Thomas; children William and Livia Thomas; parents, Jeffrey and Dorothy (Cole) Thomas; sister Catherine Thomas Schwarz.; in-laws, William and Leah Doherty.

Mike was proud of his family legacy, proud of being from the South, but made his way out of the Texas heat, to Minnesota, where he met his wife, in 2001. Corporate life was a drain, and he was so grateful to be able to pivot to a more precarious life as a self employed marriage and family therapist. We have no regrets. His soul was fulfilled by his work, and we know he will be deeply missed by his clients.

On the personality side, Mike was a rare man who truly did "know it all" but was so curious and open, you simply got to witness knowledge pouring out, rather than ever feeling lectured at. He had a lot of interests and skills: theater, Lego building, mountain biking, landscaping, maintaining our house, our tools and appliances, designing things for the house, art, cooking, gaming, and of course, his family and friendships were vital. Elizabeth always said, from his IT days to therapy life, he could fix her computer and her heart. What a combination.

There will be two Celebrations of Life:

     2:00 - 4:00 PM Sunday, July 27 at Applewood Pointe of Roseville, 1480 Applewood Court W., Roseville, MN 55113.

     2:00 - 4:00 PM Saturday, August 2 at The Riley Center, Foundation Church, 10751 West Adams Avenue, Temple, TX, 76502

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rosetown Playhouse, 2660 Civic Center Dr., Roseville, MN 55113-1815. Rosetown Playhouse is an amazing community theater program Mike and Livia were part of for years, and where he picked up his quirky mustache playing Theodore Roosevelt in Newsies a couple years ago. Any funds would go a long way with this non-profit and would make Mike so proud to be able to contribute to its financial health.
