Age 76 of St. Paul, passed away on June 26, 2026.
Preceded in death by parents, Thomas Russell and Fern O'Day.
Survived by daughters, Kathleen (Carl) Klett and Amanda (Mike) Kroska; grandchildren, Nathan and Luke Kroska, Karisa and Kevin Klett; sister, Rosella (Larry) Ries; former wife, MaryPat O’Day (George Rankin); other family and friends.
Patrick (“Pat”) was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1949. He graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1967 before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. Enlisting in 1969, Pat was stationed aboard the USS Forrestal and was honorably discharged in 1974.
Following his military service, Pat began a long career with 3M. During his years there, he enjoyed playing softball and formed many lifelong friendships. It was also through 3M that he met the love of his life, MaryPat, while they were both members of the company’s ski team.
Pat and MaryPat were married in 1980 and were blessed with twin daughters, Katie and Amanda. They built a life centered on family, love, and shared memories. Later in his career, Pat returned to school to study CAD Engineering, a field in which he worked until his retirement.
In 1998, Pat became a member of the St. Paul Winter Carnival Vulcans, an organization that held a special place in his heart. He remained an active and dedicated Vulcan throughout the rest of his life and was incredibly proud to be part of the organization. Yet, above all his accomplishments, Pat’s greatest pride was always his daughters and his grandchildren.
Pat passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, dedication, sense of community, and devotion to his family leave a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten.
