Paul left us quietly on Friday, Aug 9th, after enduring several years with Alzheimer's disease. He was preceded in death by his sisters Cheryl, Beth, and Christy. Missing him now are Marilyn, his wife of 56 years, and children: Lori Tyson (Scott), Mark Pennoyer (Kelly), and Jared Pennoyer (Carey Morrison); grandchildren Colin, Asa (Anna), and Spencer Tyson; Ella, Kate, Reese Pennoyer; Sabin, Flint, and Noah Pennoyer.
Growing up on the beaches of Southern California, he never was able to feel Minnesota lakes were quite the same, but he felt winter activities made up for it.While serving in the army in Turkey, Paul's life was completely changed by an encounter with Christ. He went on to major in Biblical studies at Biola University, Talbot, and Bethel Seminary.
In his 30 year work-life with the Social Security Administration, most of his time was concentrated in special programs for those who were most in need of services.
Paul explored his creative side through poetry and piano. He spent many hours writing and revising a large trove of verse, and he never passed on the opportunity to play his favorite songs on any available piano. Involvement with Hope Ave ministry to the unhoused was where he had purpose, befriending people and introducing them to God's word.
His happiest times were holidays when family was all around. Even as he lost the names of those he loved, he still greatly looked forward to those times together. He is dearly missed.
