Richard was born September 20, 1938 in Detroit, MI. He was a graduate of Murray High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a long-time resident of the Como Park area in St. Paul. He enjoyed golfing at Como Golf Course, daily walks, and spending winters in Destin, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Leona Cownie.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Elaine (née LaCasse); children, David (Annmarie) and James (Maggie); grandchildren, Kirsten (Zach) Bury, Kevin (Alexa), Emerson, and Ben; great-grandson, Linden Bury; sisters, Shirley Barr and Phyllis Robinson.
Visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday, April 5 at Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, 803 Larpenteur Ave W, Roseville followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to a charity of donor's choice.
