Richard T. McHaffie, Jr.

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the unexpected passing of Richard T. McHaffie, Jr of Lino Lakes. He passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 65 years. Rick graduated from White Bear High School where he excelled at competitive swimming then went on to complete a bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Rick was an avid golfer, skier, and loved doing anything on (or behind) a fast boat. Later in life he enjoyed a more relaxed pace at the lake with family and friends; enjoying a pontoon cruise, fishing, or stopping in at a favorite watering hole on the chain. Rick's best attributes were always his huge giving heart and sweet nature, and he will be missed by many friends and colleagues. Richard retired after 32 years from Best Buy corporate on July 31st serving many roles, finishing his career as Manager of Display and Fixture Prototype.

Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara McHaffie. He is survived by partner, Teresa Towle; sisters, Cindi (Chris) Bedsted, Susan Schelander; nephews, Greg and Caleb Bedsted; nieces, Meghan Bedsted and Callia Schelander. He was also a loving stepfather to Tommy (Rachel) Towle, Kyle (Stephanie) Towle, and an entertaining “Rickipoo” to Tyson, Ryleigh, and Adam.

A Memorial Service for Rick will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 22 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home, 2130 North Dale Street, Roseville, MN (at County Road B). Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
