Robert Melvin Sorteberg

Robert "Bob" Melvin Sorteberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the age of 93.

Bob grew up in Lauderdale, MN and graduated from Murray High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He attended Globe Business College, in St. Paul, MN for cost accounting and received an Associate Degree.

He married Kathleen Tuckner on June 1, 1957 and celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this June. They raised their family in Roseville, MN.

Bob worked in the accounting department of Onan Generators in Fridley, MN. He retired after 25 years. He found a new career working for Target Corporation in their Northern Operation Center in Fridley, MN. He retired from Target after 7 years.

Bob enjoyed volunteer work during his career and continued on into his retirement. He drove for the Red Cross for 17 years and was a blood donor. He lovingly made rosaries for Our Lady's Rosary Makers for many years. Bob was very active in the church. He was the bookkeeper for many years and served as the president of the Prime Timers club for several terms.

Bob joined the St. Paul Clown Club driving in many parades until 2019. He also served as the president of the Clown Club. Bob loved spending time with his family, he enjoyed traveling, going to the Twins games, and having Sheltie dogs. Bob also participated in bowling leagues until the age of 90. Spending time with family was important.

The Honor Flight Twin Cities Organization flies veterans to Washington D.C. its a whirlwind one-day tour of the monuments. Bob had the opportunity to go on a trip April 16, 2016. It was a very memorable day.

The family would like to thank the medical providers at St. John's Hospital for their passionate care.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jacob and Gertrude Sorteberg; and great-granddaughter, Eloise Rose Thompson.

Survived by wife of 66 years, Kathleen R. Sorteberg; children, Theresa Sorteberg, Gloria (Randy) Trupe, David (Jill Beguhn) Sorteberg, and Carleen (Brad) Peterson; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Edward Sorteberg, John (Shirley) Sorteberg, and Marleen (Ron) Zechmeister.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Friday, July 7 at MATERNITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1414 N. Dale St., St. Paul. Visitation from 10-11 AM Friday at the church. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
