Roy E. Kramer

Roy Kramer, child of God, was called home to his Savior’s arms on August 19, 2023.

He was born on February 25, 1932 in Frohna, Missouri to Ernst and Martha (Vogel) Kramer. He was baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church, Frohna, MO. He was confirmed in 1946 at Concordia Lutheran Church. He attended Concordia MO for High School through Jr. College. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army and served in Europe during the Korean War. After his discharge he attended Concordia Teachers College River Forest, IL where he attained a teaching degree in English.

He taught English in Houston, TX where he met the love of his life, Ramona Rathe. They married on Dec. 27th, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger, IA. Roy accepted a call to teach English at Concordia College St. Paul in 1961, and Shoreview, MN became their permanent home. He taught at Concordia College/University for 36 years.

He is survived by his children, Gizelle (Jon) Smothers, Llewellyn (Julie) Kramer, Garrett (Denise) Kramer, and Carlyle (Mary) Kramer; grandchildren, Charles (Jessica) Smothers, Paige (Brendan) McGinnity, Katrina (Scott) Ernst, Marcus (Kathryn) Kramer, Heidi (Seth) Gudmundson, Garrett (Jane) Kramer, Tyler (McKenzie) Kramer, Amanda Kramer, Kelsey
(Tony) Cocchiarella, Cameron Kramer, and Conrad (Emily) Kramer; 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Ramona; parents; siblings; in-laws; son, Quentin Kramer; daughter-in-law, Lisa Kramer; and grandchildren, Corrine and Shaw Kramer.

Roy Kramer was one of the founding members of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Roseville, MN. He held many positions on different boards at King of Kings. He had a generous heart, loved gardening, loved his family, church family, and friends. His laughter and storytelling will be dearly missed.

Funeral service 11:00 AM Saturday, August 26 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 2330 N. Dale St., Roseville. Visitation at the church from 9-11 AM Saturday.  Livestream link available by clicking here.
