Age 23, of Maplewood, passed away on March 5, 2026.
Preceded in death by grandfather, Dersonigne Aboye.
Survived by parents, Bekabil Tolassa & Hayme Mekuria; and brother, Jeremiah Bekabil.
Saron Bekabil, gifted with compassion, brilliance, and purpose, was born on January 9, 2003, in Los Angeles, California. Though, she was raised in Maplewood, Minnesota. From a young age, Saron showed a deep commitment to learning and a sincere desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Saron attended White Bear Lake High School before continuing her academic journey at Howard University, where she graduated in Fall 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and double minors in Chemistry and Biology. During her time at Howard, Saron distinguished herself as both a scholar and a leader. She earned Dean’s List honors twice and served as President of the Ethiopian and Eritrean Student Association (EESA), where she fostered community, culture, and connection among students.
She also took part in the Howard University Pre-Health Summer Enrichment Program (PHSEP), where she strengthened her preparation for the MCAT and deepened her foundation in the medical sciences.
In Fall 2025, Saron began graduate studies at Emory University as a Rollins Pathways Scholar, continuing her journey toward becoming a physician dedicated to bridging public health, policy, and advocacy to create a more just and effective healthcare system. Her ambition, intellect, and passion for service inspired everyone around her.
Beyond her academic and professional achievements, Saron was a devoted daughter, sister, granddaughter, and cousin who cherished her family deeply. She remained closely connected to loved ones, often traveling back home to visit family.
Saron’s vibrant personality filled every room she entered. She was known for her intelligence, quick wit, and caring spirit. She loved playing basketball, listening to music, and playing the piano. Whether spending time with friends, sharing laughter with family, or supporting those around her, Saron brought joy, kindness, and authenticity to every moment.
Saron’s life, though far too short, was defined by purpose, love, and a commitment to uplifting others. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched, the dreams she inspired, and the path she helped illuminate toward a more compassionate and equitable world.
Visitation 4:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, March 12 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home (Roseville), 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd. B.
Funeral service 10:00 am Friday, March 13 at Zion Evangelical Fellowship Church, 1632 Charles Avenue, St. Paul, MN.
Interment at Roselawn Cemetery.
