Shirley Ann Luger

February 5, 1939 — January 5, 2024

Shirley Ann (Falk) Luger, age 84, passed away peacefully into Heaven surrounded by her family on Friday, January 5th at 12:48am and joined her husband, Marvin. Shirley was an amazing wife/mother/sister/friend, PERA professional, doting grandmother and a dog’s best friend. Shirley was beloved to her children Erika (John), Kristine (Bill), Mark (Jessica) and Nancy (Chris). Shirley’s greatest love was her family, who she was so very proud of.

Shirley grew up in West St. Paul. She was an artist! A graduate of the University of MN with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, she painted, made quilts and grew beautiful gardens. Accomplished chef and baker. No stomach was left empty or without sweets. In her healthy years she enjoyed traveling, whether it was family ski trips to Snowmass, beaches in Florida, music in NOLA, she mostly enjoyed the time with friends and family. It’s debatable if she loved her family or her dogs more. Shirley was always the biggest treat dispenser. In her later years, she was affectionately known as Smiling Shirley and could be caught dancing and singing. Her granddaughters Lauren & Natalie also brought out her amateur acting abilities which kept her young and laughing, along with her audience. Shirley is already missed beyond measure, but her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. She was and always will be – Simply THE best!

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Marvin A. Luger; parents, Mildred and Sherman Falk; in-laws, Elsie and Aloysius Luger; brother-in-law, Bill Schmokel; and nephew, Greg Schmokel.

Survived by sister, Yvonne Sando; brothers-in-law, Keith Sando and Jerry (Jan) Luger; sister-in-law, Eileen Schmokel; grandchildren, Max, Jack, Luke, Lauren, Natalie, Clara, Greta, Elena, and Olivia; nieces, Andrea (Gab) and Renee (Matt); grandnieces, Antonia, Stine, and Lili; and grandnephew Sam. Also survived by Luger nieces and nephews Shelley, Scott, Mike, Paul, Jeffrey, Suzie, Steve, Rick, and Kathy; and her puppies: Kody, Lulu, Luna, & Hazel. Last, but not least, are Shirley Ann’s special friends Bobbie Latcham and Jan Carlson; and cousin, Marilyn Perkins.
