Shirley M. Shisler

Shirley M. Shisler, born March 15, 1931 in McGregor, Iowa to Kenneth and Evelyn (Evans) Shisler, the first of 6 children.

Preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Evelyn; sister, Marita Pickett; brother, William "Bill" Shisler; and brothers-in-law, Merlin Fairbanks and James Johnson.

Survived by sisters, Caroline Fairbanks and Anita Johnson; brother Norman Shisler (Laura); brother-in-law, Frank Pickett; sister-in-law, Chris Wells-Shisler; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley graduated from Wilson High School, St. Paul, MN in 1948. Received her B.A. degree from Hamline University in 1952 and M.S. in Library Sciences from Columbia University, New York City, NY in 1957.

Shirley worked in public school libraries in Sleepy Eye, MN and Elbow Lake, MN, public libraries in St. Paul, MN and Baltimore, MD, and retired as Head of the Reference Department at the Des Moines Public Library, IA in 1996.

Memorial service 11 AM Friday, September 12 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home-Lino Lakes, 7050 Lake Dr., Lino Lakes, MN 55014. Visitation from 10-11 AM Friday 9/12.
